I’m in the middle of a few sewing and knitting projects, but recently took a break to do a little painting.
I ordered a tray to corral some items on my side of the vanity. I am a bit of a product junky and my stuff always seemed to spill over to Charles’ side. When it arrived, the outside of the tray was painted silver and looked a lot cheaper in person than it did in its pictures online. I ended up painting a bright blue (Martha Stewart’s pool) to bring a little color and make it a little more fun. I did two coats of paint (I waited an hour in between coats) and let it dry overnight to fully set. It was a quick fix, and I figure if I ever tire of the color I can always paint it again.
While I had out my painting supplies, I also decided to make a little sign for the door of my crafting room/office. I printed off the quote that I used for last week’s words to inspire and formatted it to fit on an 8 by 10 inch canvas.
I painted the canvas with a mix of paints to add a bit of depth. After it had dried, I transferred over the lettering with chalk. I painted in the letters carefully with liquid gold leaf paint so it had a metallic finish. Neither project took long to do, but I love the way that both came out. Plus it is always nice to finish something quickly when it seems like other projects are dragging on.
