my favorite pie recipes

As I mentioned yesterday, I am in charge of Thanksgiving pies, and I usually make 4 or 5 pies. Our Thanksgivings are pretty small (6-10 people) so it usually averages out to about 1/2 a pie each. I just love to make pies. Maybe one day I’ll end up making as many pies as this woman, although we’ll need a few more people to attend Thanksgiving. Every year, I make a blueberry, an apple, and a pumpkin pie. I also make hard sauce, which is a combination of butter, powdered sugar, and whiskey. It melts gorgeously on warm pie, and brings pie to a whole new level. I will also make 1 or 2 additional pies. These are usually chosen because the recipe caught my eye. So far none of them have been great enough to stick around to the next year. If I remember correctly, the additional pies that I’ve made over the years are: pear, meyer lemon tart, pumpkin cheesecake, and probably my most ambitious undertaking, this cream pie with apple roses whose instructions are in Bulgarian. Thank goodness for Google Translate. This year’s additional pie will be a mixed berry with a crumb topping. If it comes out well, I’ll share the recipe. I couldn’t find any decent photos of pies that I’ve made in the past, and I haven’t made this year’s pies yet, so I put together a few printables of the recipes.
