neck pillow

As I mentioned yesterday, we are in Chicago for a wedding. Thanks to an old ski injury, I’ve been having neck problems for the past couple of months. I used to be able to sleep in a plane or car with little trouble and without a pillow, but now I am trying to be careful so I don’t undo all of the work I’ve done in the past months. I started looking around for a neck pillow to bring with me on the trip, but found most of them to be either too soft or too hard. I decided to make my own so I could make it just the firmness that I like. I looked around for patterns and came across this pattern by the cottage home.

I liked her patchwork so I copied it with some scraps that I had. I ended up changing the pattern slightly to make the pillow larger. I added about 2 inches to the back curve, and 2 inches to make it longer. I also added a bit of ribbon with snaps on it to allow me to loop and secure it around my suitcase. I stuffed it with some fiberfill stuffing that I already had. I thought about doing poly-fil micro beads, but it seemed like way too much of a hassle. It came out super comfy, and with the added inches it is large enough for me to sleep against.
