Shortly after Charles and I got married and moved in together, I realized that we needed a centralized calendar. We tried digital calendars, but neither one of us was very good at updating it, so we seemed to find ourselves double booked or forgetting to tell the other person that we had made plans. I was able to find an 18 month calendar from Real Simple that I loved. It was the right size, and had repositionable stickers that made it easy to move things around or remove things without mucking up your nice neat calendar. It also was completely blank so we were able to start in July without wasting any months. I was able to buy it again after we used up the first one, but sadly when I went to buy it this time, I could not find it anywhere. The middle of the summer isn’t a great time to buy a new calendar, and the selection wasn’t great. Because I wasn’t having any luck finding what I wanted at the store, I decided to put together my own.
I found a clipboard that I was able to hang on the wall, and got to designing my calendar. I wanted something that was blank because I wanted to be able to reuse the template from year to year. I printed out my calendar onto cardstock, and got to numbering. I decided to use washi tape to mark off events because a) it looks pretty and b) washi tape is pretty low tack, so you are able to reposition it without any trouble.
I’ve been using this calendar for a couple of months now, and I am very happy with how it came out. Here is a printable if you would like to make your own: simplecalendar
